IT IS EASIER TO TAME A WILD IDEA…
My wife and I were talking about our next travel plans. Having visited Osaka and Kyoto Japan as well as Malaysia and Singapore, we were bitten by the travel bug and wanted to continue touring Southeast Asian countries.
Suddenly, a fantastic idea came about: Let’s visit Indochina! We can do Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam in 16 days.
My wife and I thought for a second and decided…Why not? It will be legendary!
TRAVELING IS NOT CHEAP BUT IT CAN BE AFFORDABLE
First things first: Find flights.
Actually, it was more of waiting for the seat sale.
That’s why it’s really important to plan way ahead so that you can maximize your peso. Some might say “Christmas hasn’t even arrived yet and you are already planning for summer?” The reason really is the all important seat sale.
Luckily, we got a base fare of 25 pesos for Phuket,Thailand and the same amount for our flight out of Indochina from Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon), Vietnam. Now multiply that for three adults and the other fees and taxes and the travel becomes affordable but not really cheap.
As for traveling in Indochina (we are considering this thoroughly since our itinerary is Phuket-Bangkok-Cambodia-Vietnam) we plan to go by bus or let Air Asia take care of our flights (Air Asia has a very good network in South East Asia based from our previous travel experiences).
STAND ON THE SHOULDER OF TRAVEL GIANTS
Now, truth be told I do not know anything about Thailand.
No worries, I can always consult my “travel go-to-guy” and super blogger Nomadic Matt. The wealth of info from his blog is amazing and always right on!
For example, I initially thought Phuket was a beach only to discover that it is actually an island where a good number of beautiful beaches abound.
There are so many beaches, now which one should I pick?
Matt recommends anywhere except Patong.
Thanks, Matt! Fides and I are inclined to go to Karon and now the hotel hunt begins…
